Investigating the Effect of Light on Plant Growth
A Simple Experiment Using Bean Plants
Objective:
To determine how varying amounts of light affect the growth rate and health of bean plants.
Materials:
3 identical pots
Bean seeds
Potting soil
Watering can
Measuring scale
Ruler
Access to natural or artificial light
Procedure:
Fill all three pots with equal amounts of soil.
Plant 3–5 bean seeds in each pot at the same depth.
Place the pots in different lighting conditions:
Pot A: Full sunlight
Pot B: Partial sunlight
Pot C: No light (dark room)
Water each pot equally every day.
Record the growth (height in cm) of plants every 2 days for 2 weeks.

Conclusion:
The results support the hypothesis. The plant receiving full sunlight showed the greatest growth, while the one kept in the dark exhibited minimal development and yellowing leaves.
Further Questions:
Would the results change with different plant species?
How does light spectrum affect plant growth?
